Illinois Real Estate Salesperson License Reciprocity

Need Help Getting Started?Illinois law allows for non-resident licensing of a Real Estate Salesperson and license reciprocity on a per case basis, strictly; and the following requirements must be met.

The individual seeking licensing in Illinois must:
  1. Recover the cost of your education with our Tuition Reimbursement Program!Be employed by or associated with a broker that currently holds an active Illinois Real Estate Broker's License directly
  2. Hold an active license in their state of current residence
  3. Be a resident of the same state as the broker with whom he or she is associated
  4. Sucessfully complete a course of education appropriate to Illinois specific real estate brokerage laws
Also, Illinois should have a recognized reciprocity policy with the state from which the individual is currently licensed.

If you do receive approval for a non-resident's license, be sure to know the rules under which both licenses function. Dual licensing is not a special state of exemption from the rules of either state, at any time; Illinois will expect all regulations, including Continuing Education, to be followed for the entire term that you hold an Illinois Real Estate Salesperson's license.
